It amazes me that someone would restore a 283 PG car like that. Clearly a labor of love that they won’t get their money back on.

Numbers matching used to mean a lot, probably still does. Never made a ton of sense to me, especially when it comes to common options. If this were a W-409, obviously that's a no brainier.

“numbers matching” wouldn’t mean much on a 283 Powerglide car.
And it’s a bit of an overused term sometimes- cars this old generally don’t have the last 6 of the VIN stamped on the block, so they can't be numbers matching.
20-25 years ago, 61 SS 409s were believed to be extinct. Now there's plenty to be found. I don't think they were ever really gone, but most of those you see now didn't exist in 1995.
